About Us

Restructured National Bamboo Mission approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on 25-04-2018. The Mission envisages promoting holistic growth of bamboo sector by adopting area-based,regionally differentiated strategy and to increase the area under bamboo cultivation and marketing. Under the Mission, steps have been taken to increase the availability of quality planting material by supporting the setting up of new nurseries and strengthening of existing ones. To address forward integration, the Mission is taking steps to strengthen marketing of eing bamboo products,especially those of handicraft items.The Restructured National Bamboo Mission is a centrally sponsored scheme (CSS). It is being implemented through the state nodal department which is nominated by the State/UT governments concerned. The selection of beneficiaries and delivery of assistance are being carried out by the State Bamboo Mission/State Bamboo Development agency stationed at the State/UT nodal department for implimenting the National Bamboo Mission

The National Bamboo Mission and the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) has launched together a dedicated bamboo window on the GeM portal (https://gem.gov.in/) for the promotion of bamboo goods and services (Bamboo based products and Quality Planting Materials, Architects, Designers, AMC of machines and equipment etc). The dedicated window is now available on the GeM portal. The sellers can use this portal to expose to the government as well as private buyers. GeM has a business facilitator in each state who may assist interested parties with training and learning.

In this context, the NBM and GeM will conduct online training for the State Officials as well as the private entrepreneurs/ artisans for the marketing of bamboo products through the GeM portal. Therefore, all are requested to furnish the details (officials/ entrepreneurs/artisans/MSME etc) who are desirous to attend the 'GeM portal- Bamboo page' training in the spread sheet below or sent the soft copies in MS excel format.

Objectives

- To increase the area under bamboo plantation in non forest Government and private lands to supplement farm income and contribute towards resilience to climate change as well as availabilty of quality raw material requirements of industries.
